eReaders: Which is the Best?
The Kindle and Nook have been battling it out for quite sometime when it comes to which is the best overall. The recent updates to each of the devices means that a comparison is yet again required. In the past, the Kindle has definitely walked away with first place, but the issues of the Nook’s performance has been addressed along with other concerns. The Kindle has also seen some updating, so will it still be the one to take it all?
Portability
The third edition of the Kindle has slimmed down even more so. It is even more easily portable and compact in size. The Nook is obviously larger than the Kindle in size, and it weighs a little more too. Here’s how the measurements pan out:
Kindle________________________________________Nook_______________________________________________
7.5″ x 4.8″ x 0.335″ 7.7″ x 4.9″ x 0.5″
8.7 ounces 12.1 ounces
Display and Usage
The best technology for any eReader is the e-ink, and both the Kindle and the Nook feature this technology. It allows for the gadgets to read like it is actually real paper, and that is the best feature fro book lovers. The screens on both also seem to be similar, but the Amazon Kindle is better than the Nook in the fact that it has the newest e-ink technology called Pearl technology. This boosts the appearance and contrasting by fifty percent.
The usage of the Nook is a little more complex than that of the Kindle. There is a touch screen below the e-ink screen which allows you to search for selections, pages, and books, while the Kindle sticks with its buttons, controller, and keyboard.
Battery and Capacity
If the whole competition came down to just the life of the battery, then the winner would turly have to be the Kindle. The Amazon Kindle battery will last, when the wireless feature is turned off, for up to thirty days. The Nook can only last up to ten days maximum, unfortunately.
The Kindle has the storage capacity to hold up to 3,500 books, but the Nook can only hold up to 1,500. Fortunately for the Nook you can use a microSD card to get some extra storage space.
Which One Is The Winner…
The choice is difficult, and it does depend on the person choosing, but for me Kindle still beats out the Nook.
